Moon Twin Senshi

One Sailor Moon oc making trope that I shamelessly indulge in is making Moon Twin senshi. I get it, Usagi's the main character, she's kind-hearted and powerful so why shouldn't you give her a cool twin?

However, as stated in Aelloblu's First Things to Know, 2) One Starseed = One Guardian, this goes against canon since a celestial body can only have one Sailor Crystal otherwise my Solar System Celestial Knights would have Sailor Crystals too! But I digress lol. If you have your heart set on giving Usagi aka Sailor Moon a past-life twin sister, there are some ways you can do it without completely screwing canon over and I'll highlight special character interpretations of the Moon Twin senshi oc trope which shamelessly includes my original characters who are Sailor Moon's twins.

Of course, there's no way I can write this post without mentioning the legendary Kaosu Studio's Kurai aka Sailor Moon Dark of the fan project, Sailor Moon Sacrifice, who was probably my first exposure to the trope. She unfortunately violates the canon stipulation that there can only be one Sailor Crystal assigned to a celestial body and I hate to say it, but she is essentially a Usagi recolor. Her hair is black and there are no physical differences between her and Usagi. At the very least, as they continue to revamp, her fuku distinguishes her between her and Sailor Moon.

Next is Kuroshi-Tenshi's Sailor Kalfu, one of my favorite interpretations. Not only can we still tell that Corinna Tsukino aka Sailor Kalfu is still related to our beloved Sailor Moon but she has plenty of distinguishing features, a unique fuku, and while her connection to the moon is clear, she has a unique guardian name.

This is a collaborative original character made by me and shadowsphere21. Princess Asteria aka Sailor Andromeda. Shadow indulged me when I suggest an alternate dimension where Serenity has a twin whose father is also her King Astraeus. In that alternate dimension, Astraeus hails from the Andromeda Galaxy as its ruler, deity of the dusk, where the titan gods originate from. I helped decide her name, Shadow came up with her design details including her colors, staff, princess dress, and shoes as Sailor Andromeda and I came up with her fuku. People will probably regard her as a Usagi recolor but at least she has a distinguishing hairstyle aside from having the buns as those of the Moon Kingdom and a unique fuku. Last but not least is my Afuru Tsukino aka Sailor Pandia! I solemnly swear I'm not copying  Kuroshi-Tenshi's Sailor Kalfu. I had thoughts of making Afuru a cousin even before I encountered Corinna Tsukino aka Sailor Kalfu. Tranquility is a name that means "peace" like Serenity and is unfortunately overused in the fandom for Moon Twins. People will probably regard her as a Usagi recolor but at least she has a distinguishing hairstyle aside from having the buns as those of the Moon Kingdom and as a Satellite senshi, she has backbows that show her affiliation as a Jovian Moon Senshi which was developed by the lovely Aelloblu. I hope she's unique in that while powerful in her own right, she doesn't work solo and she doesn't hold any leadership position in her team. She's also a crossover oc as her world of conception also mixes in Kuroko's Basketball and taller than her elder twin.

However, another canon problem with making Moon Twin Senshi that most Sailor Moon oc creators probably don't take into account is that the Sailor Quartet state during the Stars arc that for generations, the Silver Millennium has only one princess. That doesn't mean you can't acknowledge that canon fact when making a Moon Twin Senshi. Here's an image from  Kuroshi-Tenshi's Kalfu's Moon. The only way to solve this discrepancy is to say "well, some generations made exceptions." That's the way I'm going about it or you can go a canon divergent route when it comes to this canon fact, it's up to you. So some ways to make a semi-canon abiding Moon Twin Senshi is to clarify that Princess Serenity's generation was an exception when it came to the one princess pattern and give her a different celestial body to draw power from! Recommendations to spice up the Moon Twin Senshi trope: While your Moon Twin Senshi will most likely have buns of some form since that is the signature hairstyle of the Moon Kingdom lineage, it doesn't mean you can't change up her twin tails! Identical twins don't have the same height so that's another factor to play with. Also, give some distinguishing features to your girl's fuku.

And if you change your mind about giving Usagi aka Sailor Moon a past-life twin sister, revamping is always an option. Special mention to Sailor Uranus Eternal's Sailor Aethra who started out as a Sailor Blue Moon but with the help of Aelloblu, she was revamped into Usagi's soul sister. This Sailor Moon oc making trope is overused but it doesn't mean you can't spice it up with your interpretation and have fun with it. 🌙💖

Happy 1 Year Anniversary!

Wow, I can't believe it's been a year since my fan senshi website first opened. I remember sitting at a Chinese restaurant for Mother's Day when Aelloblu messaged me that she had it up! Prior to sitting in the restaurant, I think I may have seen a ladybug flying in the air.

( Different ladybug but still, I miss seeing them and hope I'll be able to eventually see them again this year. )

I'd like to thank shadowsphere21 for finding the Fan Senshi Alliance Discord server and getting me to join her there because I've met wonderful friends in the server, some who are listed below. This Facebook post I recently encountered really seems to resonate with my line of thinking. I hope before the year ends, I get closer to achieving one of my creative goals whether that's completing all my oc bio's or even getting started on writing Senshi no Basuke and Solar System Celestial Knights. We'll see how much progress I make next year and maybe I'll affiliate with more fan senshi websites down the line but I don't intend to give up on making my fan senshi dreams come true!

Kinmoku Star System Headcanons

Hello all, a while ago, I came up with some Kinmoku Star System headcanons and after reading this fanfiction set on Kinmoku, I think it's about time I release them and put them up for adoption and allow the new owner to expand on them instead of letting them exist in my head and gather dust since I already have so much Solar System characters to develop for my fanon let alone developing this star system.

Note: My headcanons lean towards the information that we are given on the Kinmoku planet / Kinmoku star system in the manga. Update: My headcanons have been adopted by the fic author herself, MagicUnbound!

It's confusing but in the manga, Princess Kakyuu and the Sailor Starlights both originate from a planet called Kinmoku in the Kinmoku star system.

Tuxedo Unmasked has stated that Sailor Kakyuu draws her power from the Kinmoku star and Curious-Insanity has headcanoned that Kakyuu is the Sailor Guardian of the sun of the Kinmoku Star System. So, in accordance with that, I headcanon that "Kakyuu" is the secondary name of the Kinmoku star which is the sun of the star system and what Princess Kakyuu and her Senshi form's name derive from. She is also the princess of the Kinmoku planet so I headcanoned that her mother had the Sailor Crystal of the Kinmoku / Kakyuu star which she inherited while her father had the Sailor Crystal of the Kinmoku planet.

The Sailor Starlights always introduce themselves as shooting stars so I headcanon that those celestial objects are where they derive their power from. Their senshi names are abbreviated forms of the names used to refer to the comets that they draw power from. "Star of War" - Star Fighter (In xianxia dramas, they often mention a "God of War"), "Star of Creation" - Star Maker, "Star of Healing" - Star Healer.

Xianxia dramas always talk about the "Three Realms" which are the human realm, the heavenly realm, and the Underworld / demonic realm. In accordance with that, the Kinmoku star system has three planets: Kinmoku - the equivalent of Earth / the human realm, Ginmoku "silver osmanthus" - the equivalent of the heavenly realm, and Mazokumoku (name can be altered by the new owner of the Kinmoku Star System headcanons as I was trying to go for the literal meaning of "devilwood" but "Akumamoku" just didn't sound right to me.) The equivalent of the demonic realm. However, it doesn't mean that there can't be Sailor Crystal holders of moons, stars, and comets in the Kinmoku star system! On that note, the male equivalent of a Sailor Starlight is a Star Knight. Kinmoku Culture (I have read part of Bride of the Water God which describes the male protagonist having to crossdress at a young age and since Naoko probably based the Sailor Starlights on the band called "Starbow" which is of unknown gender, this headcanon explains why the Sailor Starlights are comfortable with crossdressing.) From a young age, people of Kinmoku crossdress to obtain the virtue of the other sex. For instance, boys would crossdress as girls at a young age so that they would be obedient while girls would crossdress as boys to grow up strong. Since their people worship the stars, divination is a valued skill on the planet. For Sailor Crystal holders, their Sailor Crystals allow them to tap into the art of divination as they are powerful parts of the universe. Taiki aka Sailor Star Maker came from a scholar family. Seiya aka Sailor Star Fighter came from a family of warriors. Yaten aka Sailor Star Healer came from a family of physicians. Whoever messages me first to adopt these headcanons will be the new rightful owner of them. All I ask is that you give rightful credit where credit is due. 😉 Have fun developing the Kinmoku star system and expanding on these headcanons! I hope to see a fan senshi website for the Kinmoku star system and to affiliate with them one day! ⭐
