Kotori and Kotomi were born as identical twins and the only children of Sota and Kumori Amamoto. Sota is the owner of Amamoto Travel Retailer. When they were 4, they had dancing lessons. He had them take tennis lessons when they were 5 years old. Sota was good friends with Fujin Kanahisa back when Fujin lived in Yokohama and they wanted to arrange a marriage between one of Sota’s twin daughters and Fujin’s son, Zéphyr.
When Kotori and Kotomi turned 8 years old, her parents gave Kotori a blue parakeet like she wished for, and she named him “Aoi”. Within that same year, they got to go to Paris, France for a family vacation so Sota could see his friend, Fujin Kanahisa, again and they got to meet the Kanahisa children. Both twins were curious about the sport Zéphyr was playing with his sister, Ciel, then he taught the twins to play basketball so they could all play together.
Sota enrolled them in Mini-Basketball after their family trip. Kotomi had no romantic interest in Zéphyr but Kotori, did so her father and Fujin Kanahisa arranged for their engagement. When they were 9 years old, she wanted to take singing lessons while Kotori wanted to take singing lessons. They were ok with taking their twin’s desired lesson as well, so their mother enrolled them for both.
Kotomi and Kotori were on Teikō Junior High’s Student Council and girls’ basketball team as the shooting guard and center. In their last year of junior high, Kotomi was promoted to captain while Kotori was promoted to vice-captain. They were recruited by Rakuzan High’s girls’ basketball coach, so they transferred to Kyoto and joined Rakuzan High’s girls’ basketball coach, so they transferred to Kyoto and joined Rakuzan High’s student council and eventually got to play as regulars on Rakuzan High’s team. They still play as shooting guard and center. In their last year of high school, they were promoted to captain and vice-captain. After being promoted to captain and vice-captain, their jersey numbers were #4 and #5.
Relationships
Family
Sota and Kumori Amamoto — parents, Kotori Amamoto (younger twin sister)
Their parents had high expectations for them, so they had them learn dance and tennis at young ages. Both parents discuss decisions concerning their twin daughters together. Kumori wanted them to learn how to dance while Sota wanted them to learn how to play tennis. When she was in 7th grade, Sota asked her if she wanted to inherit his company, and she said “yes”. Sota enrolled them in Mini-Basketball after seeing how much they enjoyed playing basketball with Zéphyr and Ciel Kanahisa. When Kotomi expressed interest in wanting to play the flute and Kotori expressed interest in wanting to take singing classes, her mother enrolled them in flute and singing classes.
Even during their past lives in the Silver Millennium, they came into the world as identical twins born five minutes apart. They were always together and even in their past lives as daughters of a Uranian duke, they took dancing, flute, and singing classes together. In modern days, in addition to taking those classes, they received tennis classes and were enrolled in Mini-Basketball after their childhood friend, Zéphyr Kanahisa, taught them how to play and they enjoyed playing the sport with him and his younger sister, Ciel. Both play tennis or basketball against one another. Although they enjoy tennis and basketball, they prefer playing basketball because it’s a more intensive workout and is more collaborative than tennis. They both have leadership traits and like being involved in the school community, so they are always on the school council together.

In his past life, he was present for the initiation ceremony for Princess Uranus’s guardian Sailor Guardians. As Sora is her princess’s twin brother, Kotori is ready to support him in battle and even protects him if need be. Kotori shows off her magic tricks to Sora and he is happy to watch her perform them as he will always be amazed by them. Sora and Kotori both related to being the younger siblings in their families but inheriting their fathers’ companies despite that face. Both are amazed by each other’s talents and talk about sports outside of battle.

Kotori appreciated how patient he was while teaching her despite his stern demeanor and she had a crush on him since then. Inspirations
Aside from sharing personality traits with Cinderella, I incorporated Cinderella's hairstyle, personality, and earrings for her Senshi identity aside from songs related to Cinderella into her soundtrack. I wanted Kotori to look like Cinderella, so she and her twin sister have light blue eyes aside from platinum blond hair. I have original characters in Senshi no Basuke with "moto" in their surname, so I decided to continue the pattern with Kotomi and Kotori. Azel Halgal's bride likes the men of the steppes for being manly and since her love interest, Zéphyr Kanahisa, is an expy of Azel Halgal from A Bride's Story. Her ability to perform magic tricks was inspired by Prospero from "The Tempest" being a sorcerer. Her attack names were also inspired by Prospero from "The Tempest" aside from directly mentioned the tempest and the fact Kaho Mizuki's Moon Bell can dispel illusions. The day in her birthday is what you get when you add 5 (Miranda's designation number) and 18 (Prospero's designation number.) Thanks to the Disney wikia for describing Esmeralda's hair and Cinderella to help me describe Kotori's hair and personality. Thanks to my coauthor cousin for helping me decide that Kotomi and Kotori would be identical twins and that Sailor Prospero's weapon would be a bell inspired by Kaho Mizuki's Moon Bell from Cardcaptor Sakura. Since I believe twin characters should have similar voices, after listening to Yui Horie's voice acting video compilation, I decided to go with Yui Horie for Kotomi and Kotori.
