:Background:
Mihiro is the only daughter and third child of Yuji and Tomomi Kasamatsu. The night before Tomomi was in labor, she dreamt of a river, not knowing that she dreamt of the Acheron River of the Underworld and on November 2nd, she named her daughter “Mihiro” because it meant “stream” and it was a name used for both girls and boys like her name was. From a young age, she could see spirits. Her parents were concerned about the sights she talked about seeing and took her to a shaman in Tokyo who explained to her parents that she had the ability to see the spirits of the dead. Her parents told her not to tell anyone except her family about the spirits that they saw otherwise people would be afraid of her and treat her differently.
Her paternal uncle, and aunt, Kazuo and Shinobu, enrolled her cousin, Yukio into Mini-Basketball after encouraging him to try it out in at the age of 6 and encouraged her parents to enroll her as well because they hoped that by having Mihiro and Yukio grow up alongside each other, it would negate his fear of girls. Mihiro’s parents were both busy since Yuji was an accountant and Tomomi was a ship engineer so they figured it would be good to enroll her instead of just entrusting her to a babysitter and being kept at home. Mihiro grew to love the sport along with her cousin. It wasn’t until they went to the 2nd grade that Yukio’s younger brother, Hideo, was also enrolled in Mini-Basketball with them. In the 2nd grade, her father enrolled her at the kendo dojo like her elder brothers had been, and she also came to enjoy kendo.
However, during the 8th grade, Mihiro had to transfer from Kanagawa to Tokyo because of her mother’s work. Around that time, Yukio started inheriting his father's hormonal fear of teenage girls. After transferring, Mihiro as the new girl was thought of as too tomboyish by the boys although she was also undoubtedly attractive so one boy decided to flip her skirt to see whether she was truly a girl as a cruel prank. Mihiro yelled at him a lot while she punched him multiple times in the face and one strike was hard enough to give him a bloody nose which was what made her stop along with a female classmate’s scream. Her parents had to apologize to the boy’s parents and pay part of the medical fees for treating his bruises although they demanded an apology in return which was reciprocated. Mihiro started wearing a boy’s uniform from that time on to avoid having a repeat of the incident which her parents accepted. The damage to Mihiro’s reputation was irreparable. All the girls and boys in class became afraid of her and thought of her as a violent maniac. Mihiro was accepted onto the Touou Academy Junior High division girls’ basketball team as a point guard and whenever the regulars saw her glare at them or look at them stoically, they were intimidated into cooperating with her, and they had to admit that Mihiro was skilled, so they had to put up with their frightening point guard. Her jersey number at the time was #5.
Mihiro started having dreams of her past life as a Plutonian mixed Lunaria named Potámi and her alter ego, Sailor Charon, which prompted her to awaken as Sailor Charon in her current life. Tomomi was worried that Mihiro didn’t have any friends at school, so she gave Shinobu Mihiro’s phone number and encouraged Mihiro’s cousins to text her. As Mihiro had dedicated her life to serving Sailor Pluto and acting as a Sailor Guardian, she came to be relieved that no one befriended her at school because she didn’t want anyone to get too involved with her and risk the chance of getting hurt in the process. Whenever her cousins texted her, she would wait hours before responding and reply with an apology that she was busy which made them gradually text her less before stopping altogether. She still did her best to follow up on what was going on with her cousins from her mother’s conversations with her aunt aside from watching them from afar as Sailor Charon before watching them from afar in civilian form.
It wasn’t until she entered 10th grade that she met her first comrade whose alter ego was Sailor Styx and she felt like she finally had someone who she could call a true friend. It wasn’t until she entered 10th grade that she met her first comrade whose alter ego was Sailor Styx and she felt like she finally had someone who she could call a true friend. Near the end of the following year, she became the captain of Touou Academy girls’ basketball team and her jersey number is #4. Her team gained the reputation of being “Mistresses of the Underworld” as they crushed their opponents on the court. She eventually reached out to her cousin, Yukio, and worked on rebuilding her bond with him and his younger brothers. Afterwards, she and Yukio attended the same university in Tokyo which was K.O. University.
Relationships
:Family:
parents — Yuji and Tomomi Kasamatsu, elder brothers — Takeo and Ayumu Kasamatsu, Kazuo Kasamatsu (paternal uncle), Shinobu (paternal aunt), Yukio Kasamatsu (paternal cousin), Hideo Kasamatsu (paternal cousin), Fumio Kasamatsu (paternal cousin), Hisashi Meiou (husband), Ryōta Kise (cousin in law/married to Yukio Kasamatsu), Mika Midorima (cousin in law/married to Hideo Kasamatsu)
Yuji was who she inherited her courage and vicious temper from because while her uncle, Kazuo, has a nasty temper, it isn’t as blinding as her father’s. She inherited her intelligence from her mother. As she is their only daughter, they love her a lot and encourage her tomboyish nature which was partly due to having two elder brothers. Yuji enrolled her into kendo. She thinks her father is one of the bravest people she knows aside from Uncle Kazuo, her brothers, and her cousin, Yukio. She admires her mother for being a female engineer in a predominantly male field. After the incident where the boy lifted her skirt, Yuji thought the boy deserved it and Tomomi was horrified on her daughter’s behalf, but she thought Mihiro overdid it with hitting the boy. After that incident, Mihiro told her parents that she wanted to wear a boy’s uniform so boys couldn’t flip her skirt anymore and although they were surprised by the request, they allowed her to do so. Yuji did notice that every time he asked her about how things were at school, she just shrugged that things were fine and thought he and his wife shouldn’t worry too much since Mihiro didn’t seem upset. Tomomi scolded him for being dense, but Yuji had faith that his child knew the right path to take. Tomomi was worried that her child didn’t have any friends since the move, so she reached out to her husband’s sister-in-law, Shinobu, who treated her like a little sister to have her sons reach out to her. She did notice that Mihiro was going out, so she assumed maybe Mihiro was having fun on her own. She wasn’t relieved until Mihiro entered high school and mentioned that she got to know someone who joined the basketball team. When she told her parents she had feelings for someone and would like them to meet him, Yuji was angry at the thought of her having a boyfriend 5 years older than her, but Tomomi was happy that Mihiro had someone she loved and had to stop her husband from going berserk. Her parents were happy to know that Mihiro reached out to her cousins and mended their bond with them as well as the fact she decided to have their families go camping before she and Yukio went to university. Mihiro eventually outed that she was biromantic, bisexual to her parents, and they were fine with it because Yuji was also bi.
Her aunt and uncle wanted Mihiro to spend time with Yukio in Mini Basketball and grow up alongside each other so that they could negate his fear of girls. Her uncle had an aptitude for sports, so he was happy to know that she and Yukio were enjoying Mini Basketball. Both were happy to hear that Mihiro had excellent grades and wished their sons aside from Fumio had such excellent grades. She admires her uncle for being brave and her aunt for working as a rehabilitation nurse. They both lamented that Mihiro had to move because they thought that she could’ve helped Yukio prevent his hormonal fear of girls had she stayed in Kanagawa and maintained their strong bond. After Shinobu heard from Tomomi that she was worried that Mihiro had no friends at school and wanted her sons to reach out to her, she immediately complied with the request and told her sons to text their cousin. However, after Shinobu asked her sons about their communication with Mihiro, they all responded that she kept texting them hours later and apologized to them that she was busy, so Yukio told his brothers not to text her anymore. Shinobu relayed the fact that Mihiro seemed to be busy to Tomomi and Tomomi seemed to be resigned after hearing that. They were happy when Mihiro came over to visit out of the blue and noticed that Yukio seemed to have overcome his fear of girls after talking to Mihiro in Yukio’s room. They thought that she grew up to be so pretty. They noticed that Mihiro was unusually tomboyish, but Shinobu was relieved to see that her niece did have a feminine side to her in her accessories and choice of clothing at times. They were also happy to oblige Mihiro’s request that their families should have a camping trip before she and Yukio went to university. Her aunt and uncle learned that she was bi and accepted her sexual orientation like they did with their sons.
Mihiro and Yukio grew up alongside each other since they were the same age, Yukio’s parents wanted them to grow up with each other and her parents approved, and her parents approved of the idea of her attending Mini-Basketball. Her male cousins were like brothers to her although she saw Yukio like an older brother since he was born before her while she saw Hideo and Fumio like little brothers. She loved Yukio’s bravery. She often followed him everywhere and they did a lot of things together. She respected Yukio even from a young age. She loved Hideo’s cheerfulness. Hideo calls her “Mihiro nee-san”. However, when it came time for Fumio to attempt Mini-Basketball, he cried so she called him a coward and kicked him in the butt which got her a scolding from her parents, aunt and uncle, and cousins. She loved Fumio’s intelligence but hated that he had an attitude as he got older. Shinobu didn’t tell her sons that Mihiro got her skirt lifted by a boy because she knew Yukio and Hideo would be extremely angry about that.
After awakening as a Sailor Guardian, when her cousins started texting her due to her mother’s request, she was frustrated by her mother’s love and guiltily decided to text her cousins back hours later and apologize saying that she was busy, so she was relieved when they gradually texted her less before stopping altogether. Yukio told his brothers not to text her anymore since she was busy and while Hideo was upset about it, Yukio said that life kept people busy. She wanted to distance herself from them because she was afraid that if they got too involved with her, they could get hurt because she was a Sailor Guardian. She still did her best to follow up on what was going on with her cousins from her mother’s conversations with her aunt. She watched over her cousins from a distance in the form of Sailor Charon before watching over them from afar in civilian form. She owns Basketball Monthly magazines that have articles on Yukio and Hideo. She did her best to watch Yukio’s and Hideo’s games when possible. After the captain of the Kaijō girls’ Basketball team, Umiko Kaisei, learned that she was his cousin during a practice match, she ended up getting initiated into the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club.
After Yukio’s team lost to Touou, and heard her cousin crying and for a minute, she thought of barging into Kaijō’s locker room comfort him. However, she realized she had no right to do so since she was the one who distanced herself from him. Instead, she texted Umiko about her cousin crying and told her to take care of him on her behalf. The week after Kaijō’s loss to Touou, she tailed Yukio from a distance to see how he was emotionally coping.
After she talked to Setsuna who told her that she didn’t wish for the leader of her Sailor Guardians to isolate herself and that her happiness mattered as well and Mihiro allowed herself to pursue a relationship with Hisashi Meiou, she decided to visit her cousins to repair her relationship with them. She and her cousins had a tearful group hug and cured her cousin’s hormonal fear of girls after asking him to look at her. Mihiro decided that their families should have a camping trip before she and Yukio went off to university and asked Hideo if he knew any girls, he wanted to invite otherwise it would be just her and Kairi Mizuno, so he invited his girlfriend. Yukio and Mihiro both got into K.O. University. Yukio and Hideo were happy to find out Mihiro was also bi, and Fumio accepted it as well. Yukio and Hideo later learned that she was Sailor Charon.
:Friends:
Kairi Mizuno aka Sailor Naiad
They met each other and befriended each other at Princess Serenity and Princess Tranquility’s 14th birthday ball in their previous lives. They are childhood friends because Mihiro who was in 1st grade met Kairi who was 5 years old through Mini-Basketball and her aunt who told Yukio to take care of “Kai”. They see each other like family since Kairi is close to her and her cousins, Yukio, and Hideo. Kairi calls Mihiro “Mihiro nee-chan”. She also learned kendo with Mihiro under the tutelage of Mihiro’s father, Yuji. They met each other in high school thanks to the fact Umiko Kaisei made them both members of the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club. Mihiro then learned that Kairi was actually a girl and was glad that she could live as a girl now. At times, they cooperate in their alter egos and learned about the fact the other was a Sailor Guardian. Mihiro entrusted Kairi with comforting her cousin after his team lost in the Inter-High and thought that if there was a woman, she trusted to take care of Yukio for the rest of his life it would be either Umiko Kaisei or Kairi Mizuno.
Mika Midorima aka Sailor Orthosie
She attended a Touou Academy girls' basketball game with Mihiro's cousin, Hideo. He told her about how his cousin and that she often texted that she was busy to him and his brothers, so his oldest brother told him and Fumio to stop bothering her. He also told Mika that he’s not sure how Mihiro came to be so cold hearted on the court. Circumstances forced Mihiro and Mika to transform right in front of each other and cooperate in a battle. Afterwards, Sailor Orthosie tried confronting Sailor Charon on why she was distancing herself from her cousins. Sailor Charon could sense that Sailor Orthosie had feelings for Hideo and told her to give up on him. Sailor Orthosie boldly declared that she would not give up on Hideo. Fortunately for her, Sailor Charon let her off the hook but threatened her should any harm happened to Hideo. Sailor Orthosie vowed to protect him which made Sailor Charon irritated but Sailor Orthosie’s words had more of an effect on her than she let on. She later learned that Hideo was dating Mika through her mother, but she never saw Hideo get hurt so she thought that Mika must really be the Sailor Guardian of Fortune. Thanks to the camping trip Mihiro proposed, she apologized to Mika and they started becoming friends. During Mihiro’s wedding, Mika caught the bouquet but was supported by Ryōta Kise and Yukio Kasamatsu who also touched the bouquet to make sure it didn’t fall out of her hands then Hideo proposed to her. They became good cousins-in-law in the future. Mika called Mihiro “Mihiro nee-san” after marrying Hideo.

Hisashi Meiou aka Plutonis Knight
In their previous lives, they had met during her initiation ceremony as Princess Pluto’s guardian Sailor Guardian. During Princess Serenity’s and Princess Tranquility’s 14th birthday ball, he asked her to dance when they requested that people find an opposite sex dance partner from the same home celestial body. They talked while dancing. After the obligatory dancing finished, they continued engaging each other in conversation then kissed near the palace columns. He personally escorted her back to her post on Charon and they kissed. When Queen Metalia’s invasion was moving towards Pluto, he came to Charon to ask for her assistance in defending the castle on Pluto as Princess Pluto was bound to the Space-Time Door. Sensing that they may have limited time left, they kissed before going to Pluto. After they tried to oppose Queen Metaria, they died holding each other’s hands. They first met after reincarnating after Sailor Pluto’s death. He showed her and the Plutonian Moon Sailor Guardians the events leading up to Sailor Pluto’s death and her death in a dream. She cried and screamed witnessing the sight. He held her, kissed her on the forehead, then apologized for causing her distress. Mihiro recognized him. As the time limit for the sharing dream was approaching, Plutonis Knight told Mihiro “Hopefully fate will allow us to meet again.” As Sailor Charon, she aids Plutonis Knight and defers to him out of respect for his position. They both share an interest in classical literature. However, Mihiro decided not to pursue him to avoid the pain of the past repeating and told her comrades that their priority is their princess and that they shouldn’t fall in love. He eventually confronted her on their mutual feelings and why she is keeping herself and her fellow Plutonian Moon Sailor Guardians from being in love. She told him that it wasn’t fair for those to fall in love even if they fell in love with heroes because Sailor Hydra wasn’t in love with a hero and reminded him that her duty is to her princess. He convinced her to let them talk about the matters of the Plutonian Moon Sailor Guardians being in love with Setsuna and she gave them their blessing. He accepted that she was bi. Hisashi eventually proposed to Mihiro, and she smiled as she told him “I’ll cook for you every day.”

While she did initially get mad when Minette was acting cold and said she is not going to rely on her teammates, she had to follow her coach’s orders to let her new ace act as she pleased. It was clear to Mihiro that Minette wasn’t open to making new friends and something traumatic in her past must’ve happened for her to be a bully on the court. Mihiro could see her past self in her. She told her that she’s not the only one who’s been hurt by someone and has a reason to avoid befriending others and that she’s been through similar events, but she has friends in the regulars on the Touou girls’ basketball team waiting for her when she’s ready to trust them. She was Minette’s captain on the court and her leader as a Sailor Guardian who also shared a destiny as one of Sailor Pluto’s guardian Sailor Guardians. Minette eventually trusted Mihiro as a companion and followed her leadership wholeheartedly and stopped her bullying ways on the court although she lamented that she couldn’t trust her earlier and couldn’t continue to play basketball with her. However, teaching Vanessa how to play basketball tested her patience until Valerie soon told Mihiro that Vanessa was predominantly left-handed and needed to be taught from a left-handed perspective. Thanks to Mihiro's training, the twins made it on the girls' basketball team as regulars in their second year.
