Background

Asuya Tennoji had a younger twin, Kazuya, who was a member of the National Japanese futsal team, and he was teammates and friends with Yamato Arashi. Kazuya retired to pursue his old dream of being an archaeologist which was how he met his future wife, Agila Dizon, a Chinese Filipino on an excavation conducted in Boljoon, Cebu, Philippines. Their relationship was unfortunately met with disapproval by both Agila’s and Kazuya’s families, so they eloped to Kanagawa to be near Asuya and his wife, Hanami, since she was expecting twins. Despite Kazuya and Agila being married for a whole year and being actively intimate, Agila did not get pregnant. After inquiring to the doctor about this issue, she was diagnosed with Endometriosis but in her case, she had no symptoms. Despite not being able to conceive, she wanted to help Asuya’s wife after giving birth and take care of the twins when they were born. After 7 months, Akira developed an attachment to Agila but Kazuya and Agila were planning to move to Akita for a fresh start. Akira clung to her finger when her aunt greeted her like normal but when her aunt was removing her finger and said goodbye, she was bawling. Her mother then let her aunt and uncle adopt her, knowing Agila’s infertility, saying that she should be with her auntie.

After the news of the death of Akira’s biological parents got to them in Akita, Kazuya asked his friend, Arashi, to investigate the fate of his nephew, Tokinari. When Akira was 18 years old, she became the vice-captain of Yōsen's girls' basketball team. A friend of hers told her about a famous U-18 Futsal player in Japan who resembled her. After prompting her family about Tokinari Tennoji, they finally told her the truth about her biological family. When she found out her parents were actually her aunt and uncle, it was a shock to her even though she accepted the knowledge over time and is grateful for their love and care.

Relationships

Family

parents — Asuya and Hanami Tennoji, Tokinari Tennoji (elder twin brother), Kazuya and Agila Tennoji (paternal uncle and aunt / adoptive parents), Ao Asahina (distant relative), Haru Yamato (husband)

When Hanami was expecting twins, she and Asuya were overjoyed. Her mother named her Akira because of her heterochromia that she got from inheriting her father’s silver eye color and her mother’s golden eye color. Like her, her elder twin brother also has heterochromia from inheriting each of their parents’ eye color. Although it hurt Hanami and Asuya to give away their child, she had a feeling that letting her child be with her auntie was the right thing to do which Asuya accepted with a heavy heart. Although her older brother was shocked to find out about her existence, he masked the shock by coldly telling her that their parents abandoned her. Her brother’s words broke her heart and moving forward, Akira couldn’t really care much about reconnecting with him.

Her parents were grateful for Agila helping Hanami take care of their twins but even as an infant, Akira was attached to her aunt. But when the time came for Kazuya and Agila to have a fresh start in Akita, even as a baby, Akira could tell the moment her aunt started removing her finger from her hand that her auntie’s goodbye may be permanent and started bawling. Both Agila and Kazuya were thankful to Hanami for giving them her daughter and promised Asuya and Hanami that they would love her and take care of her and they did. She had seen photos of Kazuya in his younger days on the national futsal team and while it was thanks to her adoptive father that she likes to watch futsal on TV, when her father tried teaching her, she saw some kids in the neighborhood play basketball and developed an interest in that sport instead. Kazuya wasn’t too down about the fact that Akira seemed to be interested in basketball and encouraged her to play it. She learned how to speak Tagalog from her adoptive parents because sometimes they would speak to each other in that language.

Friends

She has a friend who let her know about her resemblance to Tokinari Tennoji.

Haru Yamato

The Summer Sky Cup finals ended, Yōsen's girls' basketball team got third place in the Inter-High after losing to Touou’s girls’ basketball team and after receiving information that Okazan’s male futsal team was spotted in the vicinity, Akira runs after her brother as Okazan starts exiting the building. While Koyo Gakuen starts to exit the building, Haru sees the twins and wonders “There are two Tennoji’s?” He tells his team an excuse that he forgot something.

After Akira speaks with Tokinari in private about their biological relation and why they were separated from a young age, he doesn’t reveal much shock except for slightly widening his eyes and a muffled sound before resuming his stoic expression. He successfully masks his difficulty processing the revelation by coldly telling her that their parents abandoned her, leaving her heartbroken. Haru who witnessed the end of conversation, approaches Akira and they both talk about their backgrounds and connections to Tokinari. Akira successfully guesses that Haru is the son of Arashi Yamato reveals that her adoptive father and his father are friends and former teammates on the National Japan Futsal Team as she had seen photos of her father in her younger days next to each other, they comfort each other, and Akira is cheered up in the process as she wishes him luck in surpassing her older brother.

Haru awkwardly realizes it would be improper to call her “Tennoji” so she tells him he can call her “Akira-san” while referring to him as “Haru-chan” which makes him bashful. (Thanks to Rose for her input that he wouldn’t mind being called “Haru-chan”.) Haru is saddened at the prospect of potentially never seeing Akira again since she lives in Akita. At Akira’s suggestion, they exchange contact information and Haru gets attacked by a Retribuo, causing Akira to transform into Sailor Mundilfari before him. Haru promises that he’ll keep in touch with her and keep her secret aside from meeting up with her during her games in the Winter Cup. Haru told her about his team’s victory in Nationals and sent her a picture. She congratulated him.

After the Winter Cup, Akira video calls him to let him know she’ll be in Tokyo (for a point guard meet up from rival teams.)  Haru expresses amazement then asks her how long she will be in Tokyo. Akira says it will be for a couple of days. Haru then says “Let’s meet up then! You know, my teammates wanted to go to a cat café before, but it was closed. Let’s go, I think it’ll be fun!” Akira then asks “Oh? Is this a date, Haru-chan?” Haru then blushes before asking. “Uh? Can it be a date?” He then looks determined as he holds his hands in fists. “It is! Akira-san, please go out with me!” They go to a cat café then become romantically involved after she discusses her relationship with Shion Murasakibara. They have a long-distance relationship in his second year of high school, she attends KO University in Tokyo which allows them to see each other in person often compared to before. It is during this time that Hotaru gives her blessing to their relationship. After dating, he drops the “san” honorific, but she still calls Haru “chan” until he starts physically maturing.

Inspirations

Nancy Wu helped me with inspiration for her hair cut and when I learned that Tokinari Tennoji from Futsal Boys!!!!! was a Capricorn, I was inspired to make him a twin who is Sailor Mundilfari. I was planning to make a Filipina character with an eagle eye but Sailor Cressida is the only character with an eagle eye now hence her adoptive mother is from the Philippines.
