:Background:
Her father, Takara Aomi, is the CEO of a cruise tourism company. He met her French mother, Vivienne Archambeau, on a cruise trip. Chantelle was the youngest of six sisters. Her mother passed away after giving birth to her due to sepsis. After the death of his wife, Takara called his mother, Michiko, to live with him and his children in Paris, France to help take care of them. Aside from her eldest sister, Mirabelle, who acts as a second maternal figure to her, most of her sisters despise her as they blame her for causing their beloved mother to die. One of her earliest childhood memories was going to a beach house with her family and being told by her second, third, fourth, and fifth elder sisters to wait for them at the beach and if she waited, they would come back for her with gifts and play with her. It was actually her sisters’ cruel attempt to try to get rid of her while their father, grandmother, and eldest sister were occupied with making sure the beach house was set up for them to stay in. After some time, she realized her elder sisters weren’t coming back for her and as she cried while sitting near the waves, a dolphin balancing a small foam ball shaped like a basketball on its snout called out to her and they played catch with the basketball looking foam ball. After some time, her father, grandmother, and Mirabelle realized that she was missing. Her father and Mirabelle eventually found her and saw her playing with the dolphin. From that moment, her father and Mirabelle realized that she was special. Takara saw himself when he saw Chantelle playing catch with the basketball and he offered to teach his youngest daughter how to play basketball which she happily accepted since this seemed to be the first time her father had noticed her. This caused the rift between her and her second, third, fourth, and fifth elder sisters to widen but Chantelle grew to love basketball from the bottom of her heart aside from it helping her to bond with her father. She also possessed a natural talent for swimming, singing, dancing, and watercolor painting.
When she enrolled in a prestigious all-girls’ academy known as L’Academie pour les filles royale des Jardins, she became a starter and shooting guard for the basketball team and made friends with her fellow starters. She and her fellow starters were dubbed “The Princesses of Basketball” as they were prodigies. However, as her talents and those of her friends grew, a rift grew between them, and basketball was starting to lose its fun as she couldn’t find any motivated opponents or opponents who wouldn’t look down on her with scorn. When a rift grew between her and her friends, she took it the hardest as she had always hoped they would always be friends. Her talents were starting to look like a curse. However, she still couldn’t let go of basketball as her father, Mirabelle, and grandmother had always supported her when she played, and the game held many precious memories for her. However, in autumn, the Japanese branch of Aomi Cruises was experiencing some difficulties which caused Takara to relocate to Japan and she had to transfer to Shūtoku High where she applied to be a shooting guard for the girls’ team. However, her friends transferred to Japan as well. Some were in Tokyo like she was while some were in other parts of Japan, forcing them to become rivals against one another. Her jersey number at L’Academie pour les filles royale des Jardins was 9 while her jersey number at Shūtoku High is 8.
Relationships
:Family:
Relatives: parents — Takara Aomi and Vivienne Aomi (deceased), paternal grandmother — Michiko Aomi, older sisters — Mirabelle, Charlotte, Aimée, Iréne, and Constance, Aishiro Mikan (husband)
After the death of his wife, he started burying himself in work to cope with the loss which made his interaction with Chantelle minimal. He intentionally distanced himself from her as he did not want to find himself blaming her for the death of her mother like his other children had. However, he saw himself in her when he saw her playing catch using a foam ball shaped like a basketball with a dolphin and so he taught her how to play. Chantelle accepted his offer to teach her how to play because this was the first time, he had ever noticed her but grew to genuinely share a love of basketball with her father. Now that he started paying attention to her, he noticed that his child was talented. She wasn’t afraid of playing in the water, so he signed her up for swimming classes. He noticed that she had a talent for singing and dancing, so he signed her up for singing and ballroom dancing and ballet classes. Chantelle happily accepted because she liked learning new things and seeing her father happy at her achievements made her happy as well. He enrolled her in Shūtoku High knowing that it had a strong basketball team. When he is unavailable on her birthday, he sends her gifts. He supported her when she played basketball by calling her to wish her luck on a match. Chantelle doesn’t know much about her mother beyond the little things her father, grandmother, and Mirabelle has told her, but she wishes her mother was alive so that she could be loved by her and so her sisters wouldn’t despise her.
Her grandmother helped raise her and so Chantelle spent a lot of time with her. Michiko would tell her a bit about her mother when enquired. She went to see her ballet recitals with Mirabelle and wished her luck on her basketball matches and exams. She is proud of Chantelle and her achievements and wished her daughter-in-law could see how her youngest daughter has turned out. Chantelle confides a lot in Michiko.
Mirabelle is 26 years old, Charlotte is 24, Aimée is 22, Iréne is 19, and Constance is 18. Mirabelle is the only one who doesn’t despise Chantelle because she knows her youngest sister isn’t to blame for the loss of her mother. Mirabelle acts motherly to her youngest sister as well as her other sisters. Mirabelle would attend all of Chantelle’s ballet recitals and basketball matches. Mirabelle advised Chantelle not to tell anyone about the fact that she can talk to dolphins because bad people can take advantage of her ability as well as advises her how to behave socially. Both Mirabelle and Chantelle are similar in nature as they are gentle and selfless. Mirabelle often asks Chantelle about what’s going on in her life and they both talk about their daily lives outside their home. Aside from the time Iréne participated in trying to abandon Chantelle because she was following what her other sisters were doing, she generally avoided interacting with Chantelle to avoid getting backlash from her other sisters. Charlotte, Aimée, Constance attempted abandoning her at a young age because they blame her for their mother’s death and despise her, so they often aren’t around on Chantelle’s birthday and Chantelle keeps herself busy with extracurriculars to avoid feeling unwanted by them. Charlotte, Aimée, Iréne, and Constance envy her for getting a bit of extra attention by their father. Constance bullied Chantelle in primary school, at the academy, and at Shūtoku High. All Chantelle wants is to be loved by all her sisters, but it wouldn’t be until Chantelle turned 16 for her relationship with Charlotte, Aimée, Iréne, and Constance to mend.
:Friends:
Minette Kurokawa aka Sailor Kerberos
As starters on the same basketball team and those who shared the title “Princesses of Basketball” as they had a natural talent for the sport, the two of them were rather close friends. Minette liked playing one on one with Chantelle to block Chantelle’s three-pointers. Because Chantelle was of decent height and graceful, Minette would ask her for help with ballet movements and they would practice ballet in the ballet classroom together when time permitted. Minette was always physically affectionate with Chantelle, such as greeting her with kisses on her cheeks and hugging to make her best friend laugh. Minette also enjoyed Chantelle’s singing. Minette was protective of Chantelle. However, when Minette started playing bully ball, the kind Chantelle was the first one to call her out on it but easily gave in as she didn’t want to lose Minette’s friendship. They later learned that they both shared a destiny as Sailor Guardians and would fight on each other’s side if the opportunity presented itself. They did take the time to catch up on what had been happening in their lives. Eventually, Minette stopped playing bully ball and they were able to reconcile their friendship. Chantelle believed that she would make a good doctor in the future.
Allette Shiratori aka Sailor Leda
The two of them get along well as both are the brains of the team. They are also cunning but while Allette shows her cunning side often, Chantelle’s cunning side only shows up on the court. Allette is the more intelligent out of the two, but Chantelle admires the wisdom that she possesses. Allette has admitted that Chantelle is kind of scary when her personality takes on a switch much to Chantelle’s embarrassment. The two of them also share similar interests aside from basketball such as swimming, ballet, and drawing. Chantelle is amazed by Allette’s fashion drawings while Allette admires her watercolor paintings. They both have social awkwardness, but Chantelle is always polite and manages to talk to others while Allette gets very scared or tends to act rude which made Chantelle worry about her when they attended different schools. The two of them enjoy singing together and their duets are a delight to listen to. They fight alongside each other as Sailor Guardians.
Shintarō Midorima
One of her classmates at Shūtoku High. They both appreciate how smart the other is and the fact that they can be helpful to others although Shintarō will deny helping others. Shintarō appreciates her maturity. He likes to compete by making baskets against her. He claimed that he can’t really be good friends with her due to their incompatible blood types which upset her. He is impressed by her flexibility when she leans back to make her far-range three pointers. She eats with him and Kazunari on the rooftop. She started listening to Oho Asa horoscopes on occasion because of him.
Kazunari Takao
As Kazunari is friendly with everybody, he naturally became friendly with his new classmate. He was amazed by the fact that she’s the same height as him and by her shooting talent. He often gets scolded by Shintarō when he behaves improperly in front of her. They both enjoy playing basketball together. He had to comfort her by telling her that Shintarō is a superstitious tsundere when Shintarō claimed that he couldn’t be good friends with her due to their incompatible blood types. She eats with him and Shintarō on the rooftop.
Mika Midorima aka Sailor Orthosie
When Mika asked her about her relationship with Shintarō, it made her embarrassed, but Mika simply laughed while she apologized for her frank question. Mika felt like Chantelle was like another big sister to her, and Chantelle felt honored as she was a younger sibling and never been a big sibling to anyone before. This made Mika change from calling Chantelle “Chantelle-san” to “Chantelle nee-san.” They both have very loud laughs. She gives Chantelle big hugs. She’s a little envious but admires Chantelle’s painting skills but Chantelle thinks that her drawing skills are nice and says that everyone has their own strengths which made her stop feeling jealous. She also admires Chantelle’s three pointer throwing style and that she’s good at swimming and ballet. As Sailor Orthosie, she fights along with Chantelle as Sailor Sao.
:Rivals:
Her fellow Princesses of Basketball used to be her fellow basketball teammates and good friends. But as their strengths in basketball grew, their friendship weakened. When they all moved to Japan in autumn, they transferred to different schools, making them rivals among each other to prove which one of them is the strongest Princess of Basketball. It wasn't until later on that they would regain their friendship due to Allette Shiratori's efforts.
Sayo Minamoto
When Chantelle submerged underwater and willed herself to turn into a mermaid to save Aishiro, Jūban’s girls’ basketball team was training on the beach. Chantelle pulled Aishiro close to shore but when she saw Team Jūban approach, she had to leave him on the sand. Sayo saw his unconscious form, quickly went to his side, and performed CPR on his unconscious form. Aishiro was kind to Sayo and the more they got to know one another, she started to like him. Sayo ended up becoming comfortable approaching Aishiro when they crossed paths. When Chantelle saw them interacting with one another, she felt painfully jealous.
:Love Interests:
Aishiro Mikan aka Cytherean Knight
Chantelle would normally head home or to the sea right after practice but her friend, Kazunari, made her stay at the school so they could hang out after school. After getting her homework done in the library, she went to the gym to see Kazunari and Shintarō practice. By the time she got there, she noticed that another team was coming into the gym and her indigo eyes locked onto Aishiro’s orange eyes and she had the feeling that something about the boy was familiar, as if she had seen him before. Aishiro had the same feeling and since Chantelle was beautiful, he gave her a flirty wink which made her blush. Even though Jūban High School lost the practice match, Chantelle was impressed with Aishiro’s fakes, steals, and agility. He came up to her right after the game to flirt with her. Chantelle blushed as she was stunned because no one ever flirted with her before and gave a loud laugh because his words were witty and charming in an endearing way. They continued to exchange conversation, but Chantelle was in the middle of expressing her amazement, but Shintarō and Kazunari told Aishiro to stop flirting with Chantelle. Kitsune raised his hands up in defeat and told her that he hoped he would see her around. Chantelle blushed and when Kazunari asked about Shintarō’s relationship with Aishiro, he said that they knew each other from when they were kids since Aishiro’s cousin is his neighbor and Aishiro visited during the summer.
They did cross paths again at a street court near the sea and they were playing basketball together, but some bullies were interested in Chantelle’s long-range shooting then she and Aishiro had to team up to defeat the bullies and thoroughly destroyed them. When Jūban High School boys’ basketball team was training on the beach, Aishiro almost drowned but Chantelle transformed into a mermaid and saved him. However, Jūban High School girls’ basketball team was also training on the beach, one of the team members found Kitsune’s unconscious body, and performed CPR on him. Aishiro thought that girl saved him, so he was kind to her, and that girl competed with Chantelle for Kitsune’s affections.
They both related to not knowing their mothers and Aishiro told Chantelle that her elder sisters shouldn’t treat her cruelly because her mother died giving birth to her. They both work together when acting as their alter egos. After they learned about each other’s alter egos, relationship in their past life, and Aishiro discovered that Chantelle was the one who saved him, he fell in love with her completely, but their social classes and Chantelle’s mean elder sisters became a barrier to their love. Another reason he felt discouraged was that Chantelle mentioned that the one who cursed her must be a witch. He almost gave up on pursuing her because he thought he wasn’t good enough for her.
However, after receiving Tomiko Mikan’s and Mika Midorima’s encouragement and help from Chantelle’s elder sister, he was able to act on his feelings and confess her feelings to Chantelle, freeing her from the curse. They accepted each other’s’ sexual orientations and Chantelle found out and accepted that he was a witch. He wasn’t much of a swimmer but tried to understand why Chantelle loved swimming and enjoyed it.
Chantelle tried hip hop because of him but even though she doesn’t like it much, she understood why he likes the music and clothing style of it. They encourage each other to try the other’s interests. She sometimes refers to him as her significant other. He calls her “Babe”. When they go on dates and he’s the one who cooked, he’ll feed her. In the future, he becomes a youth counselor, and she becomes a marine wildlife rehabilitator and they get married to each other.
Her type of person is someone who is devoted.

Her face claim is Reika Aoki from Smile Precure! Her spirit animal is the bottlenose dolphin. Admittedly, she first started out as Sailor Delphinus before being revamped into a Neptunian Moon Guardian! She is also inspired by Hans Christian Anderson's The Little Mermaid. Her childhood trauma of being abandoned at the beach was inspired by Yoon Se-ri from the Korean drama, Crash Landing on You.
Thank to my cousin for looking over her bio in the initial conception which allowed me to revise that she was playing with a basketball looking foam ball with the dolphin.
