Background
She is the only daughter of Ikuo Kaisei, the hotelier of Hotel Del Mar in Yokohama City while her mother, Masuyo Kaneko is the CEO of Kaneko Cosmetics. Even though Masuyo viewed Ikuo's job position as being lower than hers as he only managed the hotel, she decided to marry him because he was tall like her, handsome, and very loving to her. Her mother named her Umiko because she inherited her father’s navy-blue eyes and her black with seaweed green highlighted wavy hair. Because Masuyo was a narcissist, she viewed her family as tools to serve her needs. Her husband was there to make her feel loved, appreciated, admired, and indulge her. She viewed her daughter as a piece of art she created and was going to mold into her ideal sense of self.
Masuyo dressed Umiko in fancy dresses and from the age of 4, she enrolled her in ballroom dancing, English and French, harp playing, horse-riding, and singing classes. Umiko would do her best to succeed in her classes to make her mother proud as Masuyo told Umiko to do her best in her classes to make her happy because she paid a lot of money to make sure she will be the best girl she can be. Masuyo took her daughter along to balls, classical concerts, and parties where she would show off her daughter's upbringing and people would praise Umiko for being mature, polite, and talented. They would also say she was beautiful like Masuyo and praise Masuyo for how her daughter was brought up well, which fed into her ego.
Ikuo was busy managing the hotel but when he got the chance to talk to his little daughter one evening about her day, he noticed that it felt like his child seemed to be precocious and that she was doing a lot of classes for her age. His friend and coworker, the concierge at Kanayama Hotel, Aina Umino, also lamented that she hadn't been spending enough time with her daughter named Aimi who was around Umiko's age, so Ikuo decided to plan a playdate with their children around his upcoming time off.
Ikuo and Aina then told the children to introduce themselves then Umiko introduced herself saying “My name is Kaisei Umiko, pleased to meet you.” Before bowing. Aimi then asked, “Why are you speaking so fancy?” Aina then scolded “Aimi!” before turning to Umiko and saying “Don’t mind her, this child tends to blurt out whatever’s on her mind. Aina put her arms on Aimi’s shoulders and told her to say sorry and introduce himself and she did so. The two of them had fun playing in Kanagawa Park together and they went on a boat ride together and Umiko offered to help her father row.
When Masuyo asked about her day, Umiko talked about the fact that she helped her father row the boat and got scolded for doing that because it was not lady-like. Ikuo defended his daughter then Masuyo looked like she got upset then angrily said “So you’re going to side with a child instead of me?!” Umiko apologized to her mother and started crying out of fear from seeing her mother get upset. Ikuo then told Masuyo that they would talk later and when he tucked his daughter in bed, he asked her did she had fun. She smiled and said, “Yes Papa, I had a lot of fun.” He then reassured her that she had done nothing wrong. Umiko then asked “Papa, you and Mama won’t get angry at each other, right?” He told her not to worry, patted her, and left her room.
When Ikuo tried to discuss the matter of Umiko rowing with Masuyo, she insisted that he was the person in the wrong for allowing a girl to row a boat and for speaking on the topic again. Although he was frustrated his wife wouldn’t see reason, he decided to talk to Aina’s husband, Hoshi Umino, to see if they could figure out more occasions for their children to play together again since this was the first time, he had seen Umiko even act like a child. They later went on a camping trip to a nearby mountain to see the stars which Umiko enjoyed.
However, Masuyo started to disapprove of Umiko’s friendship after Ikuo’s time off ended when she heard Umiko talk about looking forward to meeting her friend again and Masuyo herself or a household servant under her orders would tell Aimi’s parents or her babysitter that Umiko could not play with Aimi to focus on her lessons. Ikuo was angered at his wife for not letting Umiko enjoy her youth and stated that she needed a life outside of her lessons and Masuyo’s adult events. Umiko would often apologize to her mother to try to stop her parents from arguing. The final straw was when Umiko turned 5 and Aimi introduced her to basketball. Umiko liked playing basketball but when Masuyo heard that Umiko requested to wear other clothes aside from fancy dresses so she can play basketball better, she went into a rage and forbade Umiko from playing basketball ever again which made her cry. Ikuo yelled at his wife and this time, Umiko did not apologize to her mother but only cried harder.
Ikuo told his daughter to go to her room and when he tucked her in that night, he told her that there was nothing wrong with her liking basketball. He asked her did she thought it was wrong for Aimi to play basketball. Umiko said “No, there’s nothing wrong with that. Aimi should be able to do what she wants to do.” Her father asked her “Isn’t that the same for you?” Umiko said, “Yes but Mama doesn’t like me playing basketball or wearing anything other than fancy dresses.” “Don’t worry, Papa will figure out something.” Umiko asked, “Will Papa get angry at Mama again because of me?” Ikuo said “Don’t worry about it, just leave it to Papa.” Umiko said “Yes, Papa.”
For a while now, Ikuo hadn’t been happy in his marriage with Masuyo and after pondering for six weeks, he decided to talk to Masuyo about divorcing. However, Masuyo didn’t want to divorce for the sake of her reputation and guilt-tripped him while Ikuo yelled at her for not caring about their daughter aside from her lessons and bringing her along to adult events let alone care about his feelings because he was always the “bad guy” in her eyes for wanting Umiko to have friends and have some fun when they argued and never tried to compromise with him. Masuyo defensively denied his words. He stated that when it came to how Masuyo interacted with them, it was always about her way instead of caring for Umiko’s happiness or his feelings. Masuyo finally snapped and yelled “She is my daughter! She is the other me! a piece of art I created! She was like me! She was perfect! Until you introduced her to that girl!”
Ikuo calmly replied although he was extremely angry at how Masuyo viewed their daughter. “She is not just your daughter. She is our daughter, but she is also her own person Masuyo. She is not a piece of art. She’s a human child. She is happy because of her friends and that is what matters.” Masuyo asked, “Doesn’t my happiness matter too?!” Ikuo replied “It does but not at the expense of our child’s happiness. She needs friends, not associates. She is not a doll for you to show off to your acquaintances. She only asked you to let her wear other things aside from fancy clothing.” Masuyo angrily said “I put a lot of time and money into her regardless of how we see her. Are you saying everything I did for her or with her was a waste of time?!” Ikuo exhaled. “I am not. It is because of you that Umiko became very talented, but she can’t just study, do what she’s learned, or attend events with you. She needs to be around children her own age and have fun doing things she like, and it doesn't hurt for her to wear more casual clothes like she asked.”
Masuyo raged “Why are you so demanding?!” Ikuo snapped and said “I am not! I am only saying what it is that Umiko needs! This is what I meant earlier! You never care about my feelings and Umiko’s feelings! Only what you want!” Masuyo started to shed angry tears “That is not true... Don’t you love me?” “I did. I thought you were a brilliant, talented, and beautiful woman but I guess I let love blind me about you.” Masuyo screeched. “You don’t compliment me anymore, I’m the one who was mistaken!” Ikuo coldly replied “So that was all I was to you, someone to compliment you whenever you needed it, but I’m done. And I swear Masuyo, I will find a way to break myself and Umiko away from you.” And with that he walked away, leaving Masuyo to sob.
After finding a divorce lawyer, Ikuo decided to talk to Umiko beforehand about his plan to divorce her mother. He asked her would she like to live with just him. She asked him “Why can’t we stay here with Mama? Do you not love Mama anymore?” He nodded. “Mama and Papa aren’t happy together and we cannot fix that. Staying with Mama will only make Papa unhappy.” Umiko said, “I don’t want Papa to be unhappy.” Ikuo said “And I don’t want you to be unhappy. I want you to have friends and play with them and keep playing basketball.” “But Mama doesn’t like my friends or me playing basketball.” “Do you think that’s fair to you?” Umiko shook her head. “That’s why I don’t want us to live with Mama anymore. Mama will never change her mind. But I don’t want to force you to live with me. It’s up to you to decide Umiko.” After a moment, Umiko said “I want me and Papa to be happy. I want to live with Papa. But… Can I see Mama when I want to see her?” Ikuo replied “Of course you can.”
Through litigation, it was found that Masuyo was a narcissist and Ikuo was able to successfully divorce his wife and take custody of his child. Umiko kept her horse, Umi, and chose to continue her lessons until they were no longer necessary, but she was happy because she could be with her friends and play with them. Masuyo had visitation rights, but she was increasingly displeased with how her child had changed after every visit that one day, the woman came to a horrid conclusion that Umiko was one of her failures and failures must be discarded. Because her child was named Umiko, she planned to throw her child into the sea where the insane woman thought her child belonged.
On her next visit, she made Umiko go unconscious by consuming a sedative in her drink and kidnapped her. Aimi who was napping, dreamed of Masuyo driving her car with Umiko sleeping in the backseat towards the ocean. She saw Masuyo hold her child, saying “You weren’t my perfect other me after all. You’re an utter failure.”, then threw her into the sea. Umiko cried as her head bobbed up against the waves. “Mama. Mama. What did I do wrong? Please come and get me. Please come back and get me.” Aimi woke up with a start and told her babysitter she needed to see Umiko. Her babysitter saw that Aimi was strangely anxious in her request, so they came to Umiko’s residence only for the housekeeper to say that Umiko was out with her mother which made Aimi afraid. Aimi told her babysitter about her scary dream and said Umiko would be thrown into the sea if they didn’t save her.
Her babysitter thought it was a strange dream for a child to have and decided to take Aimi to Hotel Del Mar where she requested to see Ikuo and Aina. The babysitter had Yumi repeat her scary dream to Ikuo and Aimi and he believed that his wife throwing Umiko into the sea was a possibility since the words sounded exactly like something Masuyo would say. Ikuo knew that the place Masuyo was headed was the Ocean Gate business park. Ikuo left work telling his supervisor that he had a family emergency and drove them to Ocean Gate business park as fast as he could.
Aimi prayed in the car and her mother asked her what she was doing then she told her that she was praying to make sure Umiko was safe. Her mother and babysitter decided to pray for Umiko’s safety as well. They got there just as Masuyo held up her child and said “You weren’t my perfect other me after all. You’re an utter failure.” Ikuo yelled “Stop!” Masuyo started running but Aimi ran faster and kicked the woman hard in the knee. Aina grabbed Umiko the moment Masuyo dropped her and told the children to get away with Aimi’s babysitter. Ikuo apprehended Masuyo, Aina called 119, and Masuyo was arrested for attempted murder. Aimi was scolded by the adults for being reckless but praised for being brave. When Masuyo was incarcerated, she took her own life.
Umiko attended Kanagawa Junior High with Aimi. She was also Yukio Kasamatsu’s classmate. She was the center of Kanagawa Junior High’s girls’ basketball team while Aimi was the point guard. After having dreams of their past lives, she and Aimi awakened as Sailor Guardians at the ages of 14 and 13. She is Sailor Thalassa while Aimi is Sailor Laomedeia. She eventually became the captain of Kanagawa Junior High’s girls’ basketball team in her third year before she had to retire to focus on high school entrance exams. She and Aimi were recruited by the coach of Kaijō’s girls’ basketball team which made them decide to attend Kaijō High for high school.
In high school, she and Aimi started interning at Hotel Del Mar. In her third year, she became the captain of Kaijō’s girls’ basketball team, and her jersey number is #4. When she and Aimi were shopping together in her third year, she saw bracelets with Latin letter charms and bought enough to spell out “Kasamatsu Yukio” which prompted her to start the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club and made the rules that 1. A member shall not pursue a relationship with Yukio Kasamatsu, 2. Should a member desire to communicate with Yukio Kasamatsu, they may only offer yes or no questions for him to answer but they shouldn’t communicate many sentences, 3. A member shall not bother Yukio Kasamatsu or his team. She eventually completed her goal of recruiting 14 members for the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club and although they disbanded when the third-year members went to university, they were all invited to Yukio Kasamatsu’s and Ryōta Kise’s wedding and wore their Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club charm bracelets. She attended K.O. University.

Family
parents — Ikuo Kaisei and Masuyo Kaneko (deceased)
Her father hadn’t gotten to know her much growing up as he had mostly left her in her mother’s care while he worked until she was 4 years old. When he got the chance to talk to his little daughter one evening about her day, he noticed that it felt like his child seemed to be precocious and that she was doing a lot of classes for her age. He lamented that he hadn't been spending enough time with his daughter, so Ikuo decided to plan a playdate with his friend for their children around his upcoming time off. From his evening conversations with Umiko, he gathered that Umiko had only interacted with adults instead of children her age which was why she seemed like an adult more than a child. Umiko wanted to help her father row the boat. He stood up for his daughter and comforted her when he felt his wife was being unreasonable about what Umiko shouldn’t do. He talked to the parents of Umiko’s friends to see if they could figure out more occasions for their children to play together again since this was the first time he had seen Umiko even act like a child. They later went on a camping trip to a nearby mountain to see the stars which Umiko enjoyed. Her father taught her how to swim and she loved the sport. He does not think of his daughter as solely belonging to one parent and acknowledges that she is also her own person. He told his wife that she is not a piece of art but a human child. He cares a lot about Umiko’s happiness as he states that she needs friends, not associates. He also stated that Umiko was not a doll for Masuyo to show off to her acquaintances. Ikuo stated that Umiko can’t just study, do what she’s learned, or attend events with Masuyo. He stated that she needed to be around children her own age and have fun doing things she likes. He told her about his plans to divorce her mother and because they both cared about the other’s happiness, Umiko decided to live with her father. She admires her father’s determined nature and decided to become a hotelier like him when she saw how much care he treats his guests with.
Because she was a narcissist, she viewed her daughter as a piece of art she created and was going to mold into her ideal sense of self. She did not care for Umiko’s feelings. When Masuyo asked about her day, Umiko talked about the fact that she helped her father row the boat and got scolded for doing that because it was not lady-like. Umiko’s mother scared her when she got upset so when Masuyo scolded her which led into a fight between her and her husband, Umiko would apologize to try to stop her parents from fighting. Masuyo started to disapprove of Umiko’s friendships after Ikuo’s time off ended when she heard Umiko talk about looking forward to meeting her friends again and Masuyo herself or a household servant under her orders would tell Aimi’s parents or Aimi’s babyisster that Umiko could not play with her to focus on her lessons. Umiko would often apologize to her mother to try to stop her parents from arguing. The final straw was when Umiko turned 5 and Yumi introduced her and Donghae to basketball. Umiko liked playing basketball but when Masuyo heard that Umiko requested to wear other clothes aside from fancy dresses so she can play basketball better, she went into a rage and forbade Umiko from playing basketball ever again which made her cry. She is possessive of Umiko, thinking of her as her other self which made her perfect in her eyes, but her friends made her imperfect. Umiko still wanted to see her mother even when she lived with only her father. Masuyo had visitation rights, but she was increasingly displeased with how her child had changed after every visit that one day, the woman came to a horrid conclusion that Umiko was one of her failures and failures must be discarded. Masuyo held up her child and said “You weren’t my perfect other me after all. You’re an utter failure.” Fortunately, her husband and Umiko’s friends intervened and Yumi’s mother called the police on her leading to her arrest. She has a strong resemblance to her mother aside from having her father’s eyes and her mother influenced her tastes for fancy things like caviar and fancy clothes, but Umiko also started wearing more casual clothes and not acting primmer and more proper. Umiko has accepted that her mother is part of her and made her who she is but has also resolved to forget her mother.
Friends
Satoshi “Ash” Ketchum aka Neptunus Knight
In their previous lives, she had nicknamed him “Little Baron” since he was shorter than her. In their current lives, she continues to refer to him as “Little Baron” at times. Asphaleios and his current incarnation, Satoshi “Ash” Ketchum both felt sheepish by the the nickname and asked her to not call them that, but she said that she thought it was a cute nickname and as she continued to use it, they got used to it. When she is not calling Satoshi “Little Baron”, she calls him “Ash” because that is what he prefers to be called by. In their past lives, Thalassa kissed him on the cheek at a ball hosted by Neptune’s royal family. Kairi Mizuno asked for permission to skip practice so she could pick up Satoshi from the airport which made her teammates curious about her fourth cousin. She showed them a picture of him and talked about why he had to move to Japan. Umiko instantly recognized his past incarnation despite visible differences between him and Asphaleios and invited Kairi to bring him along to their practices. She rides her black mare, Umi, together with Satoshi riding his white Pegasus, Ambrose. Satoshi is her type of person because he is very determined, and she appreciates his kindness and thinks he is handsome while Satoshi also likes her kindness and thinks she is beautiful. Satoshi admires Umiko’s leadership skills and her basketball skills. Umiko kissed Satoshi on the cheek together with Aimi Umino kissing his other cheek which made his cheeks flush red and give a goofy smile. When her team lost, Satoshi cheered them up by telling them “But you were so awesome! …Umiko-san, you were a great leader! You kept everyone going even when things were tough! You caught a lot of rebounds, and you had a good defense.” She thanked him for his compliments. They have a lot of faith in each other and are close friends.
Rivals
Sayo Minamoto
Both have a friendly, mutual rivalry as captains of their basketball teams and those who play the center position. In terms of height, Sayo towers over Umiko although both are taller than the average Japanese girl. However, Umiko has her explosive jump to aid her while Sayo has her quick reflexes. Neither of them is willing to lose to the other in a match. Sayo notes that Umiko is good at motivating her team while Umiko notes that Sayo is a reliable captain. When Team Kaijō loses to Team Jūban, Umiko asks Sayo to win the Winter Cup for Team Kaijō which Sayo affirms.
Love Interests
Yukio Kasamatsu
She thought her junior high classmate, Yukio, was handsome as he had eyes that were blue gray like the sea, and she thought it was endearing that he was extremely shy around girls to the point that he would stutter and avert his eyes around them. She and her junior high classmates eventually figured out that a female could only communicate with Yukio using yes or no questions. After regaining her past life memories, she recalled that his past life incarnation, Kostas, was slightly bashful around women during the Silver Millennium. She also remembered admiring, dancing, and giving a kiss on the cheek to Kostas, at Princess Serenity’s and Princess Tranquility’s 14th birthday ball. After she saw him diligently practice throwing a basketball into a hoop at Kanagawa Park while the sun was setting, she fell for him all over again. They went into high school, and she was the one who told her female classmates how to communicate to him. In their second year, she watched the Kaijō’s boys’ basketball team’s Inter-High match and witnessed Yukio missing a critical pass. She pressed her ear to the Kaijō’s boys’ basketball team locker and heard his team blame him which made her heart ache for him. She followed him from afar to check on his emotional state, was worried that he was going to quit basketball as she observed him and wondered what to do to keep him from quitting. To her relief, Coach Takeuchi made him the captain for the following year which made him resolve not to quit. She owns a Basketball Monthly issue with an article covering him. When she and Yumi were shopping together in their third year, she saw bracelets with Latin letter charms and bought enough to spell out “Kasamatsu Yukio” which prompted her to start the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club and made the rules that 1. She advertises his good qualities to anyone who will listen to her. She gushes about him with fellow admirers. Umiko and Mihiro entrusted Kairi to go inside the locker room and comfort Yukio when his team lost to Touou in the Inter-High. (Inspired by @malitiosa-a’s writing), she bought him a water bottle and used a plastic bag to hold it and a handkerchief that she embroidered an ocean wave on but did not embroider her name on it then hung the plastic bag on the doorknob outside with a note saying “Cheer up, you are the indomitable captain of Kaijō’s boys’ basketball team and the pillar of your team.” She managed to recruit 13 other people into her secret fan club. She decided to create a secret care package and have the members contribute to it. Before an upcoming battle, she asked “Today looks like a good day, doesn’t it, Kasamatsu-san?” He replied “Yeah.” She then added “Well then, please take care Kasamatsu-san, see you in our next classes.” He replied “Yeah.” Near the end of the year, after Yukio found out that he had a secret fan club and a meeting was arranged to reveal the members, Umiko told him “I’ve liked you. I’ve liked you from the moment I saw you in junior high practicing shooting hoops. I like how dignified you look and your indomitable nature. Because you are extremely nervous around girls, I distanced myself from you intentionally and admired you from afar. When I saw that you thought of quitting basketball last year, I wondered what I could do to make you not quit because it’s clear that you’re so passionate about the sport but thankfully, Mr. Takeuchi made you the captain of Kaijō’s boys’ basketball team and you’ve worked hard to prove yourself worthy of that position. I never expected you to reciprocate my feelings. I just wanted to get them off my chest so that I can let you go to let someone else into my heart.” Yukio felt bashful and said “I… I’m grateful you feel that way.” Umiko and Kairi kissed him on the cheeks which made him faint. They went to the same university, and they attended each other’s wedding.

Aimi Umino aka Sailor Laomedeia
In their previous lives, they befriended each other at a ball hosted by Neptune’s royal family, and they got to meet again at Princess Serenity’s and Princess Tranquility’s 14th birthday ball. She is her childhood friend. They went on a camping trip and had many other playdates and outings together. Aimi introduced her to basketball, and she fell in love with the sport. They also enjoy swimming together. Since junior high, they discovered their alter egos. Umiko kissed Satoshi on the cheek together with Aimi Umino kissing his other cheek which made his cheeks flush red and give a goofy smile. Since junior high, Umiko has been the captain while Aimi played on the same team. Aimi was the first member of the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club since right after Umiko decided to buy charm bracelets with letters to spell out “Yukio Kasamatsu” and decided to start a secret fan club, she asked her “Would you join my secret fan club?” Aimi smiled as she excitedly agreed to join since Kasamatsu was cool. She then listened to Umiko come up with the rules for the fan club. They were each other’s maid of honor at their weddings. They both attended Yukio’s and Ryōta’s wedding. They were godmothers to each other’s children.
Kimi Kaiou aka Sailor Halimede
In their previous lives, they grew up alongside one another since they were both Princess Neptune's guardian Sailor Guardians and Thalassa's father was the castellan of Neptune Castle, and she was expected to follow in her father’s footsteps to be the châtelaine of Triton Castle. Sensing the resentment from Thalassa for being bound to her little sister, they initially disliked each other a lot but as Thalassa got to know her sister better and her resentment turned into devotion, they eventually became good friends since they had similar dispositions. During a practice game with Kaijō High, Umiko Kaisei recruited her to become a member of the Kasamatsu Secret Fan Club. When Umiko was going over the rules, Kimi joked about not being able to flirt with Yukio Kasamatsu much to Umiko’s chagrin. Whereas they had cold bitter remarks exchanged in their previous lives growing up, they cheekily make verbal jabs at one another when the opportunity presents itself.
Shion Fuyumi aka Sailor Larissa
Shion was taken aback when Umiko and Aimi approached her in her second year of high school to join the secret Yukio Kasamatsu fan club. She wasn’t sure who was more enthusiastic about getting her to join this strange fan club. She wasn’t sure who was more enthusiastic about getting her to join this strange fan club. However, once they asked her if she watched the Kaijō game in the Inter-High last year and pointed out that he was the point guard in the game, she was appalled because while he had been a good point guard, he missed a critical pass which cost them the Inter-High. Umiko and Aimi rebuked her for saying that by telling her to put herself and describing his situation to her made her feel a little guilty. They even told her since Coach Takeuchi made him captain, he was working hard to make himself worthy of the position. Shion said that even though they seemed to have a good understanding of his feelings, she couldn’t just take their words for it, so they made her watch his practice from the hallway and she was finally convinced after seeing him act as captain and his muscular arms. Due to them being the taller members on the basketball team, they are good at blocking their opponents. Shion respects her captain for being able to motivate the team and having a motherly nature. Since Aimi and Umiko are childhood friends, she gets to spend time with her captain outside of the court whether at school or off it. Shion thought that Yukio Kasamatsu would be a fool to not feel the same for her lovesick captain since she was tall, beautiful, and motherly. She thought even with Umiko being taller, they would make a cute couple.
Kairi Mizuno aka Sailor Naiad
After getting recruited by the coach of Kaijō High’s girls’ basketball team, she met the captain of the girls’ team, Umiko Kaisei, who listened to the story of Kairi being forced to cross-dress which Kairi retold to the coach of Kaijō High girls’ basketball team. Umiko already knew from her past life memories that Kairi was a fellow reincarnated Neptunian Moon Sailor Guardian and told Kairi that she is free to live as a girl now and that if she needed help navigating life as a girl then she has friends on the Kaijō High girls’ basketball team who can help her with that. Umiko also helpfully advised her that if she needed to know how to act like a girl then she should follow someone she admires which led Kairi to becoming a Michiru Kaiou fan. After attending Kaijō High and becoming part of Kaijō High’s girls’ basketball team, she became part of the Secret Kasamatsu Fan Club after her captain found out that she was Yukio Kasamatsu’s childhood friend. After telling her basketball team about an experience where Yukio Kasamatsu saved her from a confrontational encounter with her classmate, Ryōta Kise, she expressed her wish to talk to Yukio and tell him the truth. Umiko Kaisei supported her wish. When Kaijō High’s boys’ basketball team lost to Touou Academy, Umiko and Mihiro entrusted her to go inside the locker room and comfort Yukio and she managed to do so. As Kairi’s upperclassman, Umiko acts as a helpful guide when navigating her troubles with her past life dreams and becoming a Sailor Guardian.

Inspirations
She was inspired by the goddess, Thalassa, Princess Snow White, and Snow White’s mother knowing how to embroider. The story, The Hand, the Monkfish from It's Okay to Not Be Okay inspired why her mother wanted to discard her into the water. Her dream to become a hotelier and the hotel she works at was inspired by Hotel Del Luna. I noticed that naming hotels “Hotel Del [insert Spanish word here] seemed to be a thing in Netflix Kdramas so I named the hotel in Yokohama, Hotel Del Mar, which means “Hotel of the Sea”.
