Jovian Guardians

As of yesterday - May 30th, I completed all bios for the Jovian Guardians! The Jovian Moon Guardians are the second largest of my Satellite Senshi groups so hopefully things will be more easier for oc senshi making moving forward.

The Jovian Guardians are split between the anime schools of Teikō Junior High (Kuroko's Basketball) and Jūban High (Sailor Moon) while Jim Hawkins aka Jovis Knight attends Hyōtei Academy (The Prince of Tennis). All are located in Tokyo. According to this post, Teikō means "brilliance of the sovereign" which is ironically fitting because Zeus is the King of Gods. Jūban simply means 10 which doesn't really have any relevance to Jupiter but since Senshi no Basuke is supposed to be a crossover between Sailor Moon and Kuroko's Basketball, I have to include a school from Sailor Moon and since the rainy season happens in summer which is when the Inter-High is going on, Mugen Academy would eventually be out of commission during that time unfortunately. Plus, Rei's school is a girls' only school and a Catholic school and Michiru's former academy is also a girls' only school.

When it comes to the romance department, two of the Jovian Moon Guardians are in relationships with the Solar System Celestial Knights. (Jovis Knight is with Sailor Euporie.) Sailor Leda is the love interest of Apollo Knight, the charge and defacto leader of the Apollo Asteroid Knights. Sailor Dia is the love interest of Eros Knight, an asteroid knight. Sailor Pandia and Sailor Orthosie are in love with civilians from Kuroko's Basketball (a canon character and oc.) Hopefully Josephine aka Sailor Taygete will have a love interest too...

Even though not all of them are 16 and older, they all transform with Rose Gloss - lip gloss containers with roses in the caps.

All Jovian Guardians can manipulate electricity and plants, even having attacks where both their signature plants and electricity are combined! Sailor Leda's signature flower is the white rose. Sailor Euporie's signature plant and flower are oranges and orange blossoms. Sailor Orthosie's signature plant and flower are clovers and green peonies. Sailor Dia's signature plants and flowers are from the Rosaceae family: cherries, strawberries, cherry blossoms, and roses. Sailor Pandia’s signature flower is the lavender rose, but she also uses red, pink, orange, yellow, white, and blue roses. Sailor Valetudo’s signature flowers are red orange dahlias and white peonies. Jovis Knight’s signature flower is the sunflower.

With the exception of Jovis Knight who uses a cutlass, the other Jovian Moon Senshi only use the lightning rods from their tiaras as a weapon to help them channel electricity when they're not channeling it from their hands.

The 7 fan senshi that are posted are relevant to the plots of Senshi no Basuke and Solar System Celestial Knights.

However, there's one more hero of Jovian descent even if he isn't classified as a Jovian Guardian. Zeus Knight will come up next so stay tuned...

Idol Senshi

So this tumblr post from a Usagi roleplay blog got me thinking about Sailor Senshi and fan senshi as idols!

Canonically, we have the Sailor Starlights who became the boy band, Three Lights, in order to search for their princess. Given the star motif, I can imagine potential idol units coming from the Kinmoku star system.

Two years ago, we had the girl band called SG5 which is short for Sailor Guardians 5 and it was a music group that officially collaborated with Sailor Moon after receiving approval from Naoko Takeuchi. Unfortunately, on April 26th, the band had a new concept and was renamed f5ve. However, I'd love to see a fan senshi band called SG5 (Sailor Guardians 5) to reference the old band name.

Chuu from Loona

Interestingly, there's a singer from the Kpop band, Loona, with the stage name, Chuu. Loona is a band comprised of 12 members. You could have an Eastern Zodiac senshi team posing as an idol unit on Earth with Chuu representing the rat / mouse of the Eastern Zodiac.

Imagine a star system for the planet Mermaid, they could form an idol unit comprised of merpeople or with sirens who are Sailor Senshi on Earth and be ravishing! There could be mermen idols forming a boy band on Earth who originated from this star system as well.

Once again, I'm going to highlight the Sailor Mau created by the mun behind the tumblr roleplay blog listed above and this blog. She's a Kpop idol and her live action face claim is Wonyoung, a Kpop idol from the band, Ive.

Sailor Heavy Metal Papillon originated from the planet, Cocoon, and since butterflies are beautiful creatures, perhaps butterfly senshi from the star system of planet Cocoon could be idols?

EDIT: Thanks to Curious-Insanity, I'm able to highlight some idol original characters associated with the Crystal Animamates, a fan senshi and knight group on DeviantArt. PickledPyper's Sailor Peridot Mantis is a Kpop idol who left her group to keep them safe and AlexLyre's Zircon Paladin is a member of a Kpop boy band called iN2it.

These ideas are totally free to use by the way. Just give credit where credit is due and let me know you're using my idea so I can highlight your fan senshi by the way! I still hope to affiliate with fan senshi websites for the Kinmoku star system, planet Chuu, Eastern Zodiac senshi, and for planet Mermaid.

Moon Twin Senshi

One Sailor Moon oc making trope that I shamelessly indulge in is making Moon Twin senshi. I get it, Usagi's the main character, she's kind-hearted and powerful so why shouldn't you give her a cool twin?

However, as stated in Aelloblu's First Things to Know, 2) One Starseed = One Guardian, this goes against canon since a celestial body can only have one Sailor Crystal otherwise my Solar System Celestial Knights would have Sailor Crystals too! But I digress lol. If you have your heart set on giving Usagi aka Sailor Moon a past-life twin sister, there are some ways you can do it without completely screwing canon over and I'll highlight special character interpretations of the Moon Twin senshi oc trope which shamelessly includes my original characters who are Sailor Moon's twins.

Of course, there's no way I can write this post without mentioning the legendary Kaosu Studio's Kurai aka Sailor Moon Dark of the fan project, Sailor Moon Sacrifice, who was probably my first exposure to the trope. She unfortunately violates the canon stipulation that there can only be one Sailor Crystal assigned to a celestial body and I hate to say it, but she is essentially a Usagi recolor. Her hair is black and there are no physical differences between her and Usagi. At the very least, as they continue to revamp, her fuku distinguishes her between her and Sailor Moon.

Next is Kuroshi-Tenshi's Sailor Kalfu, one of my favorite interpretations. Not only can we still tell that Corinna Tsukino aka Sailor Kalfu is still related to our beloved Sailor Moon but she has plenty of distinguishing features, a unique fuku, and while her connection to the moon is clear, she has a unique guardian name.

This is a collaborative original character made by me and shadowsphere21. Princess Asteria aka Sailor Andromeda. Shadow indulged me when I suggest an alternate dimension where Serenity has a twin whose father is also her King Astraeus. In that alternate dimension, Astraeus hails from the Andromeda Galaxy as its ruler, deity of the dusk, where the titan gods originate from. I helped decide her name, Shadow came up with her design details including her colors, staff, princess dress, and shoes as Sailor Andromeda and I came up with her fuku. People will probably regard her as a Usagi recolor but at least she has a distinguishing hairstyle aside from having the buns as those of the Moon Kingdom and a unique fuku. Last but not least is my Afuru Tsukino aka Sailor Pandia! I solemnly swear I'm not copying  Kuroshi-Tenshi's Sailor Kalfu. I had thoughts of making Afuru a cousin even before I encountered Corinna Tsukino aka Sailor Kalfu. Tranquility is a name that means "peace" like Serenity and is unfortunately overused in the fandom for Moon Twins. People will probably regard her as a Usagi recolor but at least she has a distinguishing hairstyle aside from having the buns as those of the Moon Kingdom and as a Satellite senshi, she has backbows that show her affiliation as a Jovian Moon Senshi which was developed by the lovely Aelloblu. I hope she's unique in that while powerful in her own right, she doesn't work solo and she doesn't hold any leadership position in her team. She's also a crossover oc as her world of conception also mixes in Kuroko's Basketball and taller than her elder twin.

However, another canon problem with making Moon Twin Senshi that most Sailor Moon oc creators probably don't take into account is that the Sailor Quartet state during the Stars arc that for generations, the Silver Millennium has only one princess. That doesn't mean you can't acknowledge that canon fact when making a Moon Twin Senshi. Here's an image from  Kuroshi-Tenshi's Kalfu's Moon. The only way to solve this discrepancy is to say "well, some generations made exceptions." That's the way I'm going about it or you can go a canon divergent route when it comes to this canon fact, it's up to you. So some ways to make a semi-canon abiding Moon Twin Senshi is to clarify that Princess Serenity's generation was an exception when it came to the one princess pattern and give her a different celestial body to draw power from! Recommendations to spice up the Moon Twin Senshi trope: While your Moon Twin Senshi will most likely have buns of some form since that is the signature hairstyle of the Moon Kingdom lineage, it doesn't mean you can't change up her twin tails! Identical twins don't have the same height so that's another factor to play with. Also, give some distinguishing features to your girl's fuku.

And if you change your mind about giving Usagi aka Sailor Moon a past-life twin sister, revamping is always an option. Special mention to Sailor Uranus Eternal's Sailor Aethra who started out as a Sailor Blue Moon but with the help of Aelloblu, she was revamped into Usagi's soul sister. This Sailor Moon oc making trope is overused but it doesn't mean you can't spice it up with your interpretation and have fun with it. 🌙💖
